The drivers can be yet another culprit that can address the issue in your case. Reinstalling the drivers can be one of the best options that would be helpful for you. You can even consider downloading the latest driver from the manufacturer website.

Make sure you are downloading the driver specifically designed for the particular device model you are installing it for. I know a lot of people have been having issues with the new update, but I haven't been able to find an issue that's exactly the same as mine, so the fix may be different. I'm running an MSI GE62 and I've attempted to install the new update four times now three times through the update options in settings and once using the update assistant, as "check for updates" is no longer able to find it to no avail. Windows 10's spinning dots don't appear at all at this point, just the logo. I'm fairly sure this isn't just because the installation is slow, as I've left the laptop alone all four times for most of the day I think the shortest I left it was 8 hours when I went out for work, but I've monitored it over the weekend the last few times I tried and there's definitely no progress after this point.

Rebooting a couple of times fixes this, but the update will be undone and I'm back to square one. I have enough disk space for the update, I am running a third party AV but according to these forums it's one that shouldn't block the update and it's never obstructed it before , I'm just at a bit of a loss to be honest. Sorry this didn't help. I followed your instructions and, while the installation did complete this time which is encouraging , upon restarting the laptop encountered the same issues as before freezing on the logo screen, no spinning dots, totally stuck for several hours. In the end I had to reboot again. Any other ideas? Hi I am having the same issue. I found a solution from another user on a separate board who suggested disabling secure boot before running the update you can find out how to do so specifically online, but it's basically in your BIOS settings and then re-enabling it when you were sure the update was complete and configured.

This worked for me, so it may work for you look into it first however. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. I find that sometimes a clean boot prior to upgrade helps: use Task Manager Startup tab to disable all startup items run msconfig and disable all non-Microsoft services restart and try the upgrade You can enable everything after the upgrade has succeeded. Thanks for your feedback.
